Phoenix Books: A.Y. Berthiaume: Build Your Frame: A Manageable Way to Map Your Memoir

Join AY Berthiaume for a focused discussion, from her book, Dear Universe, I Get It Now: Letters on the Art and Journey of Being Brave and Being Me.

Have a memoir in mind but no idea how to get started? We each have so many stories as a part of our personal journey but it can be difficult to choose which ones to include when you're writing a memoir. How do you determine which you keep and which you set aside? They all seem important. Join author, A.Y. Berthiaume, of Dear Universe, I Get it Now: Letters on the Art and Journey of Being Brave and Being Me to learn the manageable way she mapped her memoir so you, too, can create a framework for your story. This will be part writing-workshop and part craft course with plenty of built-in Q&A and interaction with the author. Bring one of your memoir ideas to work on and all of your questions.

About the Book: Through personal memoir, reflective questions, and journaling prompts, Dear Universe, I Get It Now inspires readers to consider what they would ask the Universe about their own journey and invites them to brave the path that leads to their truth.

Dear Universe, I Get it Now is the work of A.Y. Berthiaume, a lifelong dreamer and exuberant professional writer. This is her inspirational story about facing challenges and peering into life's dark corners while longing to understand her place in the world and learning to love who she is.

Through 22 letters written to the Universe, Berthiaume reflects on her journey, coming to see her path as a series of purposeful, cosmic invitations to be brave. She is asked again and again to become who she was born to be. Berthiaume tells her real-life tales in a voice that is equal parts sarcasm and tenderness. These letters will re-ignite flames you thought were extinguished; empower you to see your experiences as gifts (and signs); and inspire you to own your stories. This part memoir part self-help book will make you cry, laugh, think, and nod in agreement.

About the Author: A. Y. Berthiaume is a professional writer, native Vermonter, practicing feminist, recovering middle child, wannabe superhero, and a mom who's pretty sure she's winging it. She holds an M.F.A. in creative writing and is the Lady Boss Owner of The Write Place, Right Time, her virtual boutique of copywriting and ghostwriting services. Whether she's writing for herself or her clients, Berthiaume believes in emotionally compelling, honest, and powerful stories that are told in an authentic voice, come straight from the heart, and celebrate bravery, grit, and hope. If you can catch her not doing all the things, she's probably drinking Maple Lattes in a coffee shop, getting lost in a bookstore, or binge-watching something on Netflix in her sweatpants while she eats ridiculous amounts of movie-theater-style popcorn.
