For updates, current programs, and pictures, the BLOG is where it's at!

Getting Involved at the Library

We are currently seeking Summer Reading Program volunteers!  If you will be entering 9th grade or above, you can volunteer with a friend, spend quality time with children's books, and get your community service hours for next year!  You would come in for 2 hours or more each week between June 16 and August 6 and run the reporting station.  This entails asking kids about what they are reading, marking their reading logs, giving out small prizes, and generally being friendly.  Choose your time now!  Contact Cara: clovell@ ci.burlington.vt.us.

Do you have ideas about what the library should offer to teens?  Take the wheel and join the Teen Advisory Board!  We have food!  And you can get community service hours for coming to meetings.  Click the Teen Library Events link to see when we meet.

If you'd like to volunteer just you and the books, you're welcome to contact the Youth Desk at 865-7216 to find out when you could come in and learn to shelve books.

Just finished an art project?  Let us display it for you!  Share your artwork with other teens who are perusing the stacks in the Young Adult section.  We have a locked display case that is 4'x2'x2".

Post book reviews, see pictures, or comment on an idea for the teen area at the Teen Blog!

Your library is always just a click away!  To ask a question or to get involved with any of these projects, you can IM Cara on AIM at newavistadesk, call 865-7228, or email her at clovell@ci.Burlington.vt.us.

Connections Program

The Connections Program is a partnership between the Fletcher Free Library and the school libraries of Edmunds Middle School, Hunt Middle School, and Burlington High School. The program allows students and teachers to borrow books from the FFL that aren't available at their school.  In most cases, the books requested can be delivered directly to the school.

If you are interested in learning more about this program or in borrowing specific materials, you can send an email to fletcherfreelibraryvt@yahoo.com or call us at 865-7228.
